Summary/Objective

Hospital Keepers help the technicians, doctors, and receptionists in all duties of the hospital. Keepers provide for the constant cleanliness of the hospital and grounds as well as all patient wards, cages, and runs. Work Environment

This job operates in a veterinary hospital setting. Normal vocation environment risks associated in this setting as related to treatment of and exposure to clientele, and health hazards related to disease and specialty care.

Physical Demands

This position will require at least 8 hours of walking/standing/crouching/bending, lifting/ pushing/pulling between 1-50lbs, and sedentary work/sitting for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with varying schedules to include evenings, weekends, and holidays required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour work week however, work volume or deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this position. There will be an introductory period of two months (60 days).

As a small animal rotating intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a board-certified internist (including a large amount of ultrasound experience), two boarded small animal surgeons, a board-certified criticalist, a medical oncologist, and an oncologist double-boarded in medical and radiation oncology. In addition, you will have the opportunity to have primary case responsibility while working in our busy ER with seasoned, supportive emergency doctors.

We are very proud of our state-of-the-art pet specialty and emergency center. Interns will have access to a wide range of medical services and life-enhancing care in this 24-hour care facility.

Our mission is to be at the forefront of what veterinary medicine can provide to our four-legged family members and their owners. Just to give you an idea: this 8,000-sq. ft. facility holds five exam rooms, a full-service ICU, two surgery suites, a chemotherapy suite, a 16-slice helical CT, color flow ultrasonography, video endoscopy/bronchoscopy, digital radiography, and radiation therapy. The radiation center is fitted with a Varian 21ex with On-Board Imaging (OBI), allowing us to offer the latest in radiation therapy techniques consisting of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS, SRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and 3-D conformal radiation therapy. Coming in Fall 2021 – we will be opening our BRAND-NEW Emergency Care Center, a 4,000-sq.ft. addition to our practice which will enhance our ER capabilities.

Our contemporary practice, wonderful colleagues, and dedicated staff will inspire and support your work each day. Interns will also have the opportunity to practice advanced veterinary medicine in an area known for its warm weather, rich cultural history, and beautiful coastal sunsets. Brandon, FL is part of the metropolitan area that surrounds Tampa Bay and includes Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.   • Internship Salary: $38,000.00/year
    • $25 for each ER case seen
    • $750 for each additional ER shift worked (outside of your normal schedule)
