From routine surgeries to more complex neurological surgeries, the Fetch team is here to help. With our state-of-the-art facilities, we’re able to perform neurological surgeries such as Intervertebral Disc Herniation, also referred to as IVDD.
IVDD is a disease of the joints in the spine, which occurs when one or more of the discs that serve as cushions between vertebrae deteriorates. As the disc begins to deteriorates, the disc hardens and eventually herniates. This compresses the spinal cord, which requires surgery to correct. IVDD can vary in severity based on how compressed the spinal cord is. When light compression of the spinal cord occurs, your pet may experience mild, temporary pain. However, in more severe cases, it can cause permanent paralysis.
If you notice limping or pain in your pets, our team will be here to diagnose the cause. It’s important to catch IVDD early, as it may lead to chronic pain, paralysis, or major neurological disfunction. The procedure we perform will be tailored on a case by case basis to correct the herniated disc properly.
