Dr. Sandra Bechtel received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University, completed an internship at Mississippi State University and residency specializing in medical oncology at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, Texas. After obtaining board certification, she joined the University of Missouri where she achieved tenure in 2016 before joining the University of Florida in 2017 as an Associate Professor. She has published numerous manuscripts investigating the immunology of cancer and novel cancer therapies in addition to presenting continuing education in national and international meetings. Her clinical interests include new cancer therapies and quality of life focused cancer care. In her free time, Dr. Bechtel enjoys spending time with her family and snuggling with her dog, Watson.
