Dr. Alysha McGrath knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. After obtaining her undergraduate degree from Coastal Carolina University in 2014, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Georgia in 2019.

Following graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as a small animal surgery specialty internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals.

Dr. McGrath then spent one year at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, completing a surgical oncology research internship where she authored several publications before pursuing a small animal surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania.

While she enjoys all aspects of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, she has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and became VALS (Veterinary Assessment Laparoscopic Skills) certified during her residency. Most importantly, she is looking forward to serving the community of the Upstate and their pets!

Outside of the OR, Dr. McGrath enjoys taking her adorable Cavapoo, Pecan, on walks around the city, trying new local restaurants, traveling, and spending time at the lake with family in New Hampshire.
