Dr. Penna grew up in a small town in Kansas, where she later attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate degree in animal science and industry. After graduating magna cum laude, she continued on at Kansas State to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Following vet school, Dr. Penna and her husband moved to Orlando where she worked as a general practitioner for a few years. During this time, she developed a strong passion for and proficiency in surgery. She ultimately discovered her passion truly lies in emergency medicine, which she has been practicing ever since. Her interests include veterinary radiology, laceration repairs, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Penna, her husband Stephen, their 1-year-old daughter Evangeline, and their Cockomo named Bigs all currently live in Bradenton. Outside of vet med, Dr. Penna’s hobbies include yoga, baking, mountain-biking, reading, and crafts.
