Dr. Ackermann grew up on her family’s farm in Sparta, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate studies at Western Kentucky University before earning her veterinary degree from Auburn University. She concurrently completed her Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has particular interests in emergency medicine as well as disaster preparedness and response. Outside of work, Dr. Ackermann enjoys anything outdoors including hiking, skiing, and riding horses. She loves traveling to new places and particularly enjoys spending time with her dog, Loki.
